London August 2018

August / September saw us heading to the UK, first stop a quick trip into London, Burlington Arcade and Leadenhall Market, both historic shopping locations, one in Mayfair and the other in the City of London.

Cameras

I’ve been taking a lot of photos with my phone, over the last 3 years it has been a Google Pixel, a Google Pixel 2 XL and just recently a Google Pixel 3 XL. I’ve been very happy with the quality of these cameras, and the Google software is pretty good as well. I also like the way Google Photos will create panaramas automatically and try to provide stylistic filters sometimes.

I recently bought a Canon EOS M6, a mirrorless camera with interchangable lenses, and an adapter to allow Canon DSLR lenses to attach to it. I like the option to play with different lens types and more manual settings.

I also have a Nikon P900 which has a huge zoom capability, which is very useful in some situations.

One of the things that the Pixel phones combined with Google Photos can do is convert burst mode photos into gifs.

Avalon Airshow 2019

March 1st – 3rd 2019 saw the return of the Avalon Airshow. I had planned on visiting on the Friday afternoon and take a lot of photos but ended up becoming one of the vounteers helping to run the event. In the end I wasn’t able to take too many photos and could only use my Google Pixel 2 XL, which didn’t do too bad a job.

Tasmanian Transport Museum – RailTasmania

Took another trip to Hobart, and another visit to the Tasmanian Transport Museum in Glenorchy (website).

This trip they had a steam train running.  So I took some photos.  Then Google Photos decided that after I had uploaded these photos that it wanted to automatically enhance one of them.  I think it looks quite good.
